The movie has a run time of 130 minutes anduses it very well. The screen time problem with characters is something thatcould be forgiven though. He isn't underdeveloped though, he just isn't inmany scenes. Rachel McAdams and Benedict Wong arealso great but like plenty of Marvel's smaller characters, they justdon't get that much screen time. The problem with screen time also affects Mads Mikkelson's villaincharacter as well. In terms of acting, positive things can be said about TildaSwinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor, they ooze their individual personas likethey aren't even playing a role. He perfectly plays a manwho develops from being overly cocky to being smart with his skills andknowledge. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the stubborn, egotistical neurosurgeon whose personal tragedy leads him to join alegion of sorcerers and learn the complexities of the mystic arts.Although fans of the Sherlock series will say otherwise, this is thecharacter that the guy was born to portray. In a year with 5 other comic book movies being released, i guess youcould say that making Doctor Strange seem different from the otherswould be quite a feat for Marvel Studios to pull off. The result is amovie that's just flat out exceptional and that honestly delivers thebest visuals I've ever seen in a movie. Add morethan a dash of thriller aspects and a few new characters that stealevery scene that they appear in.I honestly can't think of one way to improve this film. This heightens the tension, so oftenmissing from lesser comic-book movies, and adds real weight to theaction sequences which are thrilling and often mesmerizing. ALL the characters even the ones withsmaller roles get to shine. This also allows them to probe deeper into thecharacter's personalities. They really let theaction flow but also allow for key development of the overall story andover concept. Everything and every scene packs some sort ofpunch and resonates with true style and heart. The universe hasbeen established wonderfully and this film does the best job to dateplaying in that universe. Everything established in the Captain Americafilms and both Avengers pays dividends in a way here. The Harry Potter meets IronMan meets Ant-Man flavor was there yet it all feels unique. Making it grounded but still trippy really helps give it aflavor unlike any other comic adaptation.

How could they translate the complexityof character and his true coolness but stay away from the cheeseballstuff? Dress a guy up like the books and remain true to the seriousnessof the character? Well, they managed to not only pull it off butdeliver one of the best hero origin films ever made. The director knew that you had to establish and truly care about thecharacter. Way back when I first heard that Doctor Strange was being brought tothe screen I was a bit worried.
